Dominique Strauss-Kahn Denied Bail

Ask me a question, or leave
me a comment.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn,
head of the International
Monetary Fund will spend
the next few days in an
11-by-13-foot cell at New
York's Rikers Island jail.

Strauss-Kahn allegedly chased,
in the nude, a housekeeping
employee down a hallway and
sexually assaulted her.

Strauss-Kahn, a man who has
helped bail-out desperate
countries in need of cash,
was denied bail in a New
York courtroom on Monday.

When the day ended, the
62-year-old was in the
East River compound, a
New York Department of
Corrections spokesman
who declined to be named.

Strauss-Kahn's next court
appearance is scheduled
for Friday.

Until then, he'll have no
contact with other inmates
because he is considered
a high-profile detainee,
spokesman.

His arrest shook the
financial world, due to his
leadership with multi-
billion-dollar loans and
financial policy that
regularly affect people
by the tens of millions.

Strauss-Kahn's situation
shocked France, where he
had been not only a leading
contender to be the Socialist
party's presidential nominee
but a favorite to unseat
incumbent President Nikolas
Sarkozy.

France's Next Possible President Jailed on Rape Allegations

Ask me a question, or leave
me a comment.

The New York arrest of one
of France's leading global
figures and next possible
president, Dominique
Strauss-Kahn, 62, on charges
of attempted rape threw
France in shock, outrage,
disbelief and embarrassment
on Sunday.

The allegations were that
Socialist and managing director
of the International Monetary
Fund, attempted to rape a maid.
It happened in a $3,000 a night
suite, New York hotel.

The presumption of innocence
must be maintained and the courts
must be allowed to do their work,
government of President Nicolas
Sarkozy.

Strauss-Kahn's wife, the American
born French television journalist
Anne Sinclair, expressed disbelief
in the charges and faith in her
husband's innocence.

"If the accusations turn out to be
true and even if they are proved
false, this is a degrading thing,"
François Bayrou, a centrist who ran
for the presidency in 2007.

The I.M.F. appointed an acting
managing director on Sunday to replace
Strauss-Kahn, who spent hours in a
Manhattan jail awaiting arraignment,
which was postponed until Monday after
additional evidence was sought
including DNA samples from his fingernails
and skin.

Stop American Aid To Pakistan- Congressman Dana Rohrabacher

Ask me a question, or leave
me a comment.

Congressman Dana Rohrabacher,
R-Costa Mesa, introduced
legislation in the House of
Representatives to stop
American aid to Pakistan,
explained the killing of
Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad
made it clear that Islamabad
concealed, protected and was
an enabler for bin Laden.

"We can no longer afford this
foolishness," Rohrabacher said.
"The time has come for us to
stop subsidizing those who
actively oppose us. Pakistan
has shown itself not to be
America's ally."

Pakistan has received over
$18 billion in United States
aid since 2001 per Rohrabacher.

The bill points-out that
terrorists based in Pakistan,
specifically Lashkar-e-Taiba
(LeT), were held responsible
for terrorist strikes inside
India including the Mumbai
terrorist attack in November
2008, in which 166 people
including six American
nationals were killed.

The bill outlines several
accounts of Pakistan's
behavior toward the United
States in recent reports of
Pakistani leadership lobbying
Afghan President Hamid Karzai
to move away from "imperial"
America and to embrace
Communist China, according
to a statement issued by the
Congressman.

There's growing concern about
aid the United States gives to
Pakistan.

Lawsuit Over 'Elly May Barbie'

Ask me a question, or leave
me a comment.

The actress, Donna Douglas,
who played Elly May Clampett,
in the hit 1960s television
series "The Beverly Hillbillies,"
is suing Mattel over its "Elly
May Barbie" doll.

The company "licensed the rights
to 'Beverly Hillbillies' for this
product through the appropriate
channels, "Mattel's spokesman.

Donna Douglas' federal lawsuit,
filed in Louisiana, claims the
toy-maker is "engaging in the
unauthorized use of her name,
likeness, image and attributes"
as Elly May.

Douglas never gave Mattel
permission to market the doll or
use her endorsement to promote
it per court papers.

The suit states that a photo of
Douglas in character as Elly May
is used in the packaging, and
Mattel makes claims in its
promotional material that the doll
"captures the essence of the
classic '60s TV character and show."

"The Beverly Hillbillies," starring
Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Max Baer
Jr. and Douglas, ran on CBS for nine
years, from 1962 through 1971, and
was popular.

The show was about a rural Southern
family that moves to the glitz of
Beverly Hills.

Teacher's Naked Walk Due to Third Eye

Ask me a question, or leave me
a comment.

A teacher, Harlan Porter-31,
took his clothes off and walked
naked around a Georgia elementary
school. Porter explained to police
that his behavior helped him
achieve a "new level of
enlightenment" and "wanted everybody
to be free now that his third eye
was open," per a police report.

Porter received for showing his
third eye, last Friday afternoon
at the B.C. Haynie Elementary School,
a booking into the Clayton County
Jail on a misdemeanor charge and
released after posting $2000 bond.

Porter had "several books in his
belongings that appeared to be on
topics such as spirituality and
transcendental meditation," Police
reported.

Fellow teachers stated that Porter
"did not drink sodas or other canned
beverages, maintained a strict vegan
diet" and was not known to take drugs
or drink alcohol. "However, on the
date in question, they noticed that
he was drinking a coke and had gone
to taco bell to get tacos for lunch,"
reported Officer Khari Reed.

Porter's April 22 walk, about 3:20 PM,
wasn't seen by any students who had
been dismissed and he avoided more
serious charges.

The teacher "had recently learned that
his employment contract would not be
renewed," Officer Reed. Also, that
Porter had previously been "diagnosed
schizophrenic," though the school's
principal told cops the educator had
never exhibited "strange behavior."

Bin Laden Taken Down In Less Than Forty Minutes

Ask me a question, or leave me
a comment.

Osama Bin Laden, terrorist and
architect of the Sept. 11, 2001,
attacks, was killed in a fire-
fight with elite American forces
Monday, then quickly buried at
sea.

"His death does not mark the end
of our effort. There's no doubt
that al-Qaida will continue to
pursue attacks against us. We must
and we will remain vigilant,"
President Barack Obama.

United States helicopters transported
elite counter-terrorism troops into
the compound identified by the CIA
as Bin Laden's hide-out. They took
less than 40 minutes. Bin Laden was
shot in the head, officials
explained, after he and his bodyguards
resisted.

The United States official who shared
the burial at sea said it would have
been difficult to find a country
willing to accept the remains.

The remains had been handled in
accordance with Islamic custom, which
requires speedy burial, President Obama.

"I heard a thundering sound, followed
by heavy firing. Then firing suddenly
stopped. Then more thundering, then a
big blast," Mohammad Haroon Rasheed, a
resident of Abbottobad, Pakistan, after
the choppers had swooped in and then
were gone.

The State Department put United States
embassies on alert and warned of the
heightened possibility for anti-American
violence. In a worldwide travel alert,
the department stated there was an
"enhanced potential for anti-American
violence given recent counter-terrorism
activity in Pakistan."
